| Characterised by itching and pain from the anus and can be associated with bleeding. Hemorrhoids are caused by increased pressure in the veins of the anus. The upright posture of humans forces a great deal of pressure on the rectal veins, which sometimes causes them to bulge. Sitting in one place and straining while moving bowels (from constipation or hard stools) causes hemorrhoids. |

| Excessive rubbing, or cleaning around the anus, diarrhea, sitting on the toilet too long, severe coughing, child birth, lifting heavy objects, anal infection cause hemorrhoids. Other contributing factors include aging, chronic diarrhea or constipation, pregnancy hemorrhoids, heredity, frequent use of laxatives or enemas, and straining during bowel movements. |
