Treatment of Pain & Muscle Spasm with Strain & Counterstrain Technique for the Orthopedic, Neurologic, Pediatric & Geriatric Patient

This 2-day course will present Strain and Counterstrain Technique, developed by Dr. Lawrence Jones, DO.  Strain and Counterstrain Technique, a positional release technique, is an approach which reduces and eliminates protective muscle spasm of the skeletal muscles of the body. Reduction and arrest of inappropriate proprioceptor activity, which is hypothesized as the basis of both muscle spasm and spasticity, is achieved with this technique. The resulting muscle fiber relaxation and elongation of skeletal muscle is accompanied by improved articular balance, increased joint mobility and increased ranges of motion. This technique is also used to facilitate the correction of biomechanical dysfunction and the normalization of both joint mobility and muscle tone, leading to improved structural integrity and motor function. The technique is easy to learn and is easily integrated into patient care by all practitioners, from physiotherapists to personal trainers.
