| What is NAET? |
Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, NAET, is a drug-free, natural solution to eliminate allergies of all types and intensities, and allergy-related disorders (e.g. infections after eating sugar, asthma related to milk, irritable bowel syndrome due to stress, hyperactivity or crying spells after eating certain foods), often with lasting results.
See the NAET description for more information. |
 |
| How does NAET work? |
| In NAET, allergies are viewed from a holistic perspective based on Oriental Medical principles and defined in terms of the effect an allergic substance has on the energy flow in the body. The central nervous system reacts to foods or other substances as if they are toxic when they are really neutral or beneficial. The result of energy imbalances in the body leads to a diminished state of health in one or more organ systems. By reprogramming the brain and removing the blockages from the energy pathways, NAET allows the body to regain perfect balance (homeostasis) and function normally to reach optimum health. |

| How do I know I have an allergy? |
| We are generally aware of the more common allergy symptoms such as skin rashes, running nose, eczema and asthma. However some other common but less well known allergy symptoms can include irritable bowel movements, mood-swings, yeast infection, dyslexia, extreme mental and physical fatigue, sugar cravings to name a few. If you have experienced any of these you can suspect an allergy. To find out more about NAET please refer to the book "Say Goodbye to Illness", written by Dr Devi S. Nambudripad. |
 |
| How do acupuncture and acupressure relate to allergy treatment using NAET®?” |
| NAET is integrated with the theory of Oriental Medicine. Since acupuncture (or acupressure) points fall along the body\'s energy pathways, or meridians, either of these methods may be used to balance the nervous system. |
 |
| In what instances would the NAET treatment require Acupuncture? |
| Patients can be cleared of their reaction with acupressure alone. However, in certain cases Acupuncture has proven helpful in speeding up the process. |
 |
| How many appointments will I need? |
| The number of appointments needed depends on the number of allergies, the severity, strength of the patient's immune system and response to the treatments. Generally, patients with only a few allergies will need between 5 to 10 treatments. For patients with problems that are more severe may require more. |
 |
| What should I expect at the first appointment? |
An initial consultation is 1-hour, during which the NAET Practitioner will interview the patient about their medical history, family history and allergy related symptoms that prompted their visit.
The practitioner will then test for the presence of allergic reactions using muscle response testing, a standard kinesiology procedure. Following a defined sequence of the basic 16, allergens are identified and prioritized. The NAET practitioner will then administer acupressure along the body's energy pathways, treating the first allergen.
The treatment of each allergen can take from 30 minutes to an hour to treat, depending on the complexity of the patient's allergies.
Follow-up appointments with the NAET practitioner are highly recommended, as it is essential to the treatment plan and to establish that the allergen has been 100% cleared. Infant's follow-ups can be as short as 15-minutes.
|
 |
| What do I need to avoid following treatment? |
| You are required to avoid the treated allergen for a period of no less than 25 hours. Some patients may complete the treatment sooner, but to receive the maximum benefits 25 hour avoidance is recommended. The NAET therapist will provide a handout outlining the foods or substances that need to be avoided, including those that will need to be avoided in subsequent session. This will assist with meal planning and school lunches. |
 |
| Are there any side-effects or reactions? |
| NAET treatments are safe, non-invasive and painless. Occasionally, there can be a temporary aggravation of allergic symptoms (i.e. tiredness, itchiness, coughing, headache, sneezing) which, needs to be treated - this is normal and demonstrates that the treatment is working. During treatment the therapist will demonstrate some massage/acupressure points that will assist with alleviating these symptoms. |
