Using gentle manual techniques, that are appropriate to small bodies, Osteopaths make sure that the body’s framework is in alignment allowing a good blood and nerve supply to internal organs, and relieving any stresses and strains in the muscles and bones that could be causing structural problems. These may include torticolis posture problems or conditions such as scoliosis.
A technique often used by trained Osteopaths, is Cranial Osteopathy. In cases such as those involving compression molding of the skull due to birth trauma or forceps compression, Cranial-Osteopathy can gently mobilize the individual skull bones, releasing stress and tension.
"For example, Isabella suffered a stressful birth during an emergency caesarean section. At ten days old she was still distressed, colicky and unsettled. Following Cranial Osteopathy, Isabella became much calmer and more settled." |
