Craniosacral Therapy - uses delicate manual techniques to release imbalances between the structural elements of the head (cranium) and spine (sacrum), relieving stored pressure on the brain and improving both brain & spinal chord function, thus the central nervous system, which in turn balances the whole body.

The principle of Craniosacral Therapy is that it works to restore the rhythmic flow of cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) throughout your central nervous system. Because of its influence on the functioning of the central nervous system, Craniosacral Therapy (CST) can benefit the body in a number of ways — from bolstering overall health and resistance to disease, to alleviating a wide range of specific conditions.

Using a very light touch, the therapist applies a subtle movement, gently working with the spine, the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. Restrictions of nerve passages are eased, CSF moves more freely through the spinal cord, and misaligned bones can be restored to their proper position, bringing the central nervous system into harmony.

Among Craniosacral Therapy’s largest patient groups are those suffering chronic symptoms that other therapy approaches have had little success with. In particular, it has proven beneficial to those with head, neck or back injuries resulting from an accident. CST is also highly effective with stress-related dysfunction's; insomnia, fatigue, headaches, poor digestion, anxiety and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) are just a few examples.

Craniosacral Therapy works to reverse the debilitating effects of stress by providing the conditions in which the nervous system can rest and rejuvenate. In fact, it's this capacity to reduce stress that's leading an increasing number of people to include CST as part of their wellness routines.

Through extensive training Craniosacral therapists are able to palpate the craniosacral motion.  No manipulation is used in this gentle therapy.

Craniosacral Therapy is performed fully dressed.  A session is 30 minutes for children (see Kid’s Health) and 1-hour for adults. Patients usually require between 3 to 8 sessions, some patients may find relief after a single session.

Craniosacral Therapy is especially effective for:
  • ADHD
  • Asthma
  • Colic & reflux
  • Depression
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Hormone imbalances
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Migraine
  • Phagiocephaly
  • Scoliosis
  • Torticollis
