The principle of Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT) is that it considers all aspects of the body (organs, muscles, blood vessels, membranes and nerves), treating every element of the body as interdependent, and believing that the body functions as a single unit, not as a series of individual systems working independently.
Using both traditional and specialized diagnostic skills, IMT therapists are able to reveal layers of dysfunction that are contributing to the individual's problems, identifying the primary cause not just the symptoms.
The therapy involves the gentle movement of the hand across the areas of dysfunction. By applying gentle pressure the therapists trigger messages in the body's 'computer', as our body listens to these messages it is given the opportunity to respond to the information, gradually restoring the structural integrity of every element in the body. The body naturally brings itself into harmony and balance.
In certain situations, dysfunction & pain can be a symptom of emotional stresses or traumas stored in elements of our body, recent or past. Integrative Manual Therapy also works on a psychological level.
IMT is commonly used for persons who experience continuous pain or suffer from a combination of complaints. An IMT session is 1 hour.
