Learn how to increase your stress tolerance, build mental resilience, and better regulate your emotions against difficult times. When your outer world is unknown, become better acquainted at how to prepare, strengthen and better equip your inner world to fight back against all odds.
Panic is the overwhelming sensation of feeling fully out of control and immersed in a sea of anxiety. Fear is an evolutionary response to keep us vigilant against danger and enable us to act fast or fiercely when our survival is at risk. When we encounter fear, we turn to similar past scenarios and then behave with a similar approach to escape the perceived threat. It is our planning and choice of action that helps us overcome such fear. When you combine the sense of fear and add the element of uncertainty and the unknown, we enter panic mode if we don’t stop our emotions as they rise. During the current time of COVID-19, much of this sense of Panic is being experienced due to that second factor of uncertainty. We don’t know how long it will last? We don’t know what will happen with jobs and the economy? We don’t know how the virus can affect us and who may be infected? We are faced to live in an isolation that is unknown to many of us. This uncertainty raises many doubts and worries, and since we do not have a similar scenario to compare it to, we are unsure of how to prepare and plan for the times to come. This is when we begin to Panic.
Although we can not control our external environment in many ways, what we can control is our inner environment.
